Michael Dale asked: How often have you said to somebody, “I can’t draw”
If you think this is true, answer 2 questions… “Would you like to be able to draw?” and “Would you like to learn how to draw?”
If your answer is “Yes” to both questions, it could surprise you when I say to you… “You can easily learn to draw”
__________________________________________________________________
Also… “If you really want you can learn to draw almost anything”
Here are some more excuses you will hear…1. “I can’t draw as well as a child at school”
2. “A 3-year old can draw better than me”
3. “A chimpanzee can draw better than I can”
Truth is… It doesn’t matter how bad your drawing is. Really, I’ve heard it all before. And, what’s more, I’ve heard worse… much worse.
If you said that you can only draw matchstick men… “That’s great!”
Read on and you will learn how to get more from your drawing attempts…“So what if your people look like matchstick figures!”
Why should you care when an artist like L S Lowry became world famous, painting pictures of his local town. He was an Englishman who was capable of drawing impressive realistic lifelike portraits and figure studies that would blow your mind.
For all that, when he painted his well known scenes of his home town in Lancashire… he painted ‘Matchstick Men’. The characters he saw daily became unrecognizable cartoon like characters.
“So, where’s your problem?”
You have only just said that you you are able to draw a matchstick man. The fact is, if you can draw a matchstick man there is nothing stopping you from drawing… A Matchstick Woman, a Matchstick Boy, or a Matchstick Girl, or a matchstick Cat, or a matchstick Dog, or a Matchstick Horse.
Have no fear… “You can draw”
You will be able to easily create an Art world full of Matchstick figures. When you do so you will gain the confidence that L S Lowry had. You will see the world around you differently…“You will be able to create drawings that show life and people in your own unique way… You will produce Art that no other artist can rival”
